Instagram introduces a redesigned wordmark

TechCrunch · 2 hours ago

Instagram has introduced a redesigned text-only logo, or wordmark, replacing a version that had been used for around a decade. The company says the update is intended to make the brand look sharper and more modern while retaining a connection to its established identity, reflecting a broader effort to refresh Instagram’s visual presentation.

Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced the change on Instagram and Threads. Reaction has been mixed, with some users praising the fresher font while others joked that the stylised “r” makes the name look like “Instagzam”; the design also uses cursive-inspired curves in several letters. Instagram’s last major redesign was in 2016, when it replaced its brown camera icon with the current pink gradient, and Meta has not said whether further changes, such as a new app icon, are planned.

  • Instagram has refreshed its text-only logo after roughly a decade.
  • The new font has received both praise and criticism online.
