## Summary

South London duo Internet Cafe have released their new single, ‘Trapdoor’, a carefully built track that shifts from hushed electronics into alt-R&B. The song matters as a new example of the pair’s DIY approach and their blend of sound and visual-art influences.

The track is an inward-looking monologue about self-doubt in social situations and seeking space away from a crowd. It began as a demo with basic chords and lyrics, then was sped up and developed with chopped jungle breaks and bright synth melodies. Internet Cafe are Imi Smith and Luke Ferrero.
