Robert Kirkman, the creator of "The Walking Dead" and "Invincible," is set to release a new comic book series titled "Terminal," billed by publisher Image Comics as "the most violent and unpredictable superhero series of the year." The first issue arrives on 22 July 2026, joining a wave of superhero-adjacent titles as Marvel Studios also prepares to reintroduce the X-Men to the big screen under director Jake Schreier.

The series is co-written by Kirkman and Joe Casey, with artwork by Andy Kubert, and follows Marilyn Howe as her search for her missing sister Alessandra draws her into a secret global war between two superhuman factions. According to the official synopsis, the story's power system hinges on characters "unlocking" their genetic code, with the publisher pitching it as ideal for fans of both "Invincible" and "X-Men." Kirkman, who also serves as COO of Image Comics, previously turned "Invincible" into a popular Prime Video animated series that has run for four seasons.
