Ipswich Town have signed Morocco international defender Issa Diop from Fulham for an undisclosed fee, adding Premier League experience to a squad recently promoted from the Championship. The 29-year-old, who impressed for Morocco at the World Cup as they reached the quarter-finals, has agreed a contract running until the summer of 2030, and said he was excited to move to a club he considers a good fit for the next stage of his career.

Diop has made 173 top-flight appearances for West Ham and Fulham, having joined West Ham from Toulouse in 2018 before a £15m move to Fulham in 2022, where he made 96 appearances but only eight Premier League starts last season. He becomes Ipswich's sixth signing of the summer, following Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu (£20m from Leicester), club-record striker Emersonn (around £26m from Toulouse), permanent deals for loanees Cedric Kipre and Chuba Akpom, and goalkeeper Kayne van Oevelen from FC Volendam.
