Najmeh Amini, a 23-year-old Iranian accounting student, has reportedly been sentenced to death after taking part in anti-government protests. From prison, she issued a leaked voice message asking the public, lawyers, human rights groups and the United Nations to investigate her case, saying she wants justice and the chance to defend herself.

Amini has reportedly been held at Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad for eight months on charges including insulting Iran’s Supreme Leader and confronting security forces. Human rights groups say the wider crackdown has killed more than 7,000 people and left thousands detained, while Amnesty International has warned that at least 60 others remain at risk of execution amid escalating efforts to suppress dissent.
