Iron Maiden launched their North American "Run for Your Lives" tour with two shows at Toronto's Scotiabank Arena, delivering an identical 17-song set both nights that leaned heavily on classic material. Although promoted as drawing from the band's first nine albums, the setlist covered eight of them, omitting No Prayer for the Dying entirely, and effectively played out as a greatest-hits show for fans in attendance.

Powerslave supplied the most tracks with four, while Killers and The Number of the Beast each contributed three, alongside staples such as "Run to the Hills," "The Trooper" and "Wasted Years." Singer Bruce Dickinson used the Toronto stage to make a wry aside about Donald Trump's proposal to rename Lake Ontario, while support act Megadeth, currently on their own farewell run, played nine songs each night and will remain on the bill throughout the tour, with Anthrax joining for select dates. The tour continues through a scheduled show in San Antonio on 29 August.
