## Key points

- Stallone’s insistence on starring in “Rocky” is retold.
- Anthony Ippolito plays the struggling actor and writer.
- The review sees little suspense or new insight.

## Summary

“I Play Rocky” dramatises Sylvester Stallone’s struggle to star in the film he wrote, despite producers’ efforts to buy his script without casting him. The review finds the tale engaging but questions whether it needs retelling, given that “Rocky” already reflected Stallone’s own experience.

Anthony Ippolito plays Stallone as a likeable actor on the margins, who writes “Rocky” after struggling to find work and being inspired by boxer Chuck Wepner’s bout with Muhammad Ali. The producers eventually agree to cast him, but the film must be made quickly and on a limited budget; the review says the new film offers little suspense or character development.
