## Key points

- Isak has six league goals for Liverpool this season.
- His £125m signing struggled through an injury-hit first campaign.
- Liverpool beat Brighton 2-0 and have won four in a row.

## Summary

Alexander Isak scored again as Liverpool beat Brighton 2-0, strengthening the case that the club’s patience with its British-record signing is paying off. After a difficult first season disrupted by a broken leg, the striker is now scoring at a near goal-per-game rate and has contributed more than half of Liverpool’s league goals this campaign.

Signed from Newcastle for £125m in August 2025, Isak scored only four times in 22 appearances during his injury-hit first season. He has six Premier League goals this season, with only Erling Haaland ahead on nine, and is averaging 0.95 goals per 90 minutes. Liverpool have won four matches in a row under Andoni Iraola, while their defence kept Brighton, who had scored 15 goals in their previous four league games, to few clear chances.
