Israel has confirmed the killing of Saher Nidal Latfi Sakr, the Palestinian militant suspected of kidnapping Israeli hostages Noa Argamani and Avinatan Or during Hamas's October 7, 2023 attack. Sakr, who drove the motorbike used to abduct the two hostages from the Nova music festival and supplied weapons to Hamas, was eliminated in an airstrike on the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza by Israel Police's Gideonim Unit 33. The operation removes a figure associated with some of the most recognisable footage from the attack, which killed nearly 400 festival attendees.

Argamani was rescued on June 8, 2024, after 246 days in captivity, during which she witnessed executions and nearly died in an airstrike. Or was released after 738 days following the ceasefire brokered by US President Donald Trump in October 2025. The operation comes as Trump's administration has unveiled a $2.45 billion plan to rebuild Gaza, though officials acknowledge the ceasefire's future remains uncertain amid ongoing disagreements between Israel and Hamas. The October 7 attack killed over 1,200 people and resulted in 251 hostages being taken, whilst Israel's subsequent military campaign has killed more than 73,000 Palestinians according to Gaza's health ministry.
