Producer Youth has suggested that David Gilmour could be persuaded to perform live with ambient electronic group The Orb, following their collaboration on Metallic Spheres. He believes such a concert could surpass the scale and impact of U2’s Las Vegas residency, though no performance has been announced.
Youth, also known as Martin Glover of Killing Joke, introduced Gilmour to The Orb in 2010, leading to the album Metallic Spheres. The project was revisited in 2023 as Metallic Spheres In Colour, a remixed version; the collaboration’s origins are linked to Gilmour’s support for Scottish hacker Gary McKinnon during his US extradition case.
