It Looks Like John Mayer Is Gearing Up For a Smoldering Cuffing Season: ‘I’ll Run Away With You’

John Mayer has teased a possible new song with an Instagram clip showing him handcuffed to an unseen woman, whose pinky he links at the end. Its caption, “I’ll run away with you… October 23”, suggests a release date, though Mayer has not confirmed further details.

The clip’s shuffling beat and synths prompted fans to compare it with Bruce Springsteen’s 1985 song “I’m on Fire”, before Mayer’s guitar picking enters. He said in August that he had finished mixing a first single and confirmed new solo music would arrive this year. The tease follows five years without a solo release since 2021’s *Sob Rock* and comes ahead of his 21-show Las Vegas Sphere run, starting on 8 April 2027.
