An IT teacher has been struck off after he was caught secretly editing pupils' coursework, including altering a student's PowerPoint presentation while she was delivering it. Sai Krishnan Santhosh Kumar, 36, amended work belonging to 23 students at Meadow Park School in Whitley, Coventry, without their knowledge, prompting a tribunal to rule that he had abused his position and breached pupils' trust. The case matters because it undermines the integrity of exam assessment, with the panel finding his actions were dishonest and could have led an exam board to wrongly credit pupils for work they had not produced themselves.

Kumar, who had 13 years' teaching experience, was suspended in January 2025 and resigned a week later after an internal investigation uncovered edits or additions to presentations by 19 pupils for one BTec IT module and nine for another. He admitted the allegations but disputed that his conduct was dishonest, a defence the Teaching Regulation Agency panel rejected, concluding he likely acted to boost his class's grades. He has been banned from teaching indefinitely in England, though he retains the right to appeal and may apply to have the ban lifted from July 2029.
