## Key points

- Miliband danced briefly during a steel band visit in Antigua.
- He and Burnham tried playing “Mary had a Little Lamb”.
- The trip coincided with the Commonwealth summit and an apology row.

## Summary

Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband joined Prime Minister Andy Burnham for a steel band visit in Antigua during a Caribbean trip linked to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting. Miliband’s brief dance, which stopped when he noticed he was being filmed, and the pair’s musical attempt offered a light-hearted moment during a visit otherwise marked by a dispute over a British apology for the slave trade.

The Hell’s Gate steel orchestra played as the visitors arrived, including the William Tell overture. Miliband and Burnham then tried playing “Mary had a Little Lamb” on steel pans, repeating its opening line; orchestra director Khan Cordice praised Burnham as a musician. Burnham also played cricket with Sir Viv Richards and slipped while trying to run.
