## Key points

- Xbox Series S now costs more than Switch 2 in Britain.
- Microsoft has raised console prices beyond the US.
- Nintendo may yet increase Switch 2 pricing.

## Summary

Microsoft has increased the price of the Xbox Series S in the UK and parts of Europe, leaving the entry-level Xbox console more expensive than Nintendo’s Switch 2. The change matters because the Series S has been Xbox’s lower-cost current-generation option, while the Switch 2 is a newer competing console with broader consumer appeal.

In the UK, the Xbox Series S is now priced above the Switch 2’s £395.99 launch price, while comparable price differences have emerged in European markets. The article suggests this situation may be temporary, as Nintendo could raise Switch 2 prices in response to changing costs and tariffs; Microsoft has already made similar price increases in the US and elsewhere.
