Sega has confirmed that Sonic Frontiers has sold more than five million copies worldwide since its 2022 launch across Switch and other platforms. The milestone underlines the commercial success of Sonic’s open-zone experiment and arrives during the character’s 35th-anniversary celebrations.

Sales have risen from 4.57 million reported in November 2025, while Sega has made the Sonic Adventure 2 shoes previously tied to newsletter registration available to all players. A Definitive Edition was released for Switch 2 in June with improved visuals and performance, though its physical edition uses a Game-Key Card and existing Switch owners have no upgrade option.
