## Key points

- Six Suffolk barns can become family archive and storage space.
- Earlier approval covers studios in a piggery and barn.
- Restoration plans include measures for wildlife and planting.

## Summary

Ed Sheeran has received planning permission to convert six adjoining, run-down barns at his Suffolk estate into storage and archive space for his family. The approval adds to earlier permission for a 19th-century piggery and barn to become recording studios, as he develops a music complex on the historic farm.

The barns date from as early as 1870, and the council approved their use on the basis that it would involve no extra vehicles, lighting or equipment. Sheeran plans to repair the buildings while retaining as much of their original character as possible; the wider scheme also includes wildlife and planting measures, such as 19 flower species and 12 fruit trees.
