Madonna has released a behind-the-scenes clip offering a look at how she recruited a string of Hollywood and fashion celebrities to appear in the short film accompanying her new album, Confessions II. Posted on Monday 6 July, the video centres on the making of the "Danceteria" sequence and underlines the star-studded, cinematic ambitions of the project, which serves as the long-awaited follow-up to her 2005 record Confessions on a Dance Floor.

The clip revisits the history of Danceteria, the now-closed New York nightclub the song is named after, and shows the crew recreating its early-80s atmosphere in a busy bathroom scene featuring Gwendoline Christie and Benedict Cumberbatch. Christie is seen enthusing about the shoot, while other well-known names in the sequence include Kate Moss, Honey Dijon, Shygirl and Odessa A'zion, with Sabrina Carpenter and Julia Garner appearing elsewhere in the film. The album, Madonna's first since 2019's Madame X, was released on Friday.
