Jack White, James Bond, and the song that reached 2,000,000,000 streams: “It’s OK”

Far Out ·

Jack White once kept the riff that became ‘Seven Nation Army’ for a possible James Bond film, but used it for The White Stripes instead. The song has since grown into a global sporting anthem, and passed two billion Spotify streams in August 2025.

White first played the riff at a Melbourne soundcheck in 2002. Recorded with vintage analogue equipment for the album Elephant, the song was initially opposed as a lead single by label executives and reached only number 76 in the US charts. Italian football fans adopted it during their 2006 World Cup win, and White later wrote and performed the Bond theme ‘Another Way to Die’ with Alicia Keys.
