Jacob Elordi Ducks James Bond Question at London World Premiere of Ridley Scott’s ‘The Dog Stars’ When Asked if He’s Been Auditioning: ‘I’m Here on Holiday’

Actor Jacob Elordi attended the London world premiere of Ridley Scott's post-apocalyptic drama "The Dog Stars" in Leicester Square, drawing loud fan attention as speculation continues over whether he will be cast as the next James Bond. Asked directly by Variety whether he had been auditioning for the role, Elordi sidestepped the question, simply saying "I'm here on holiday" with a smile, having apparently grown practised at deflecting the topic.

The premiere at the Odeon Luxe, the same venue where Scott debuted "Gladiator 2" less than two years earlier, was also attended by co-stars Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley and Guy Pearce, alongside Scott himself. Elordi praised the director as "the king of movies" and "a pioneer of modern cinema." "The Dog Stars," based on Peter Heller's 2012 novel and adapted by Mark L. Smith, follows a pilot and an ex-Marine surviving a devastating flu pandemic; Elordi took the lead role after Paul Mescal, Scott's original choice, dropped out due to scheduling conflicts with the Beatles biopics. Brolin separately revealed he nearly quit the production after one day, unsettled by Scott's intense filmmaking process.
