Jo Greensill, a 57-year-old recently widowed and semi-retired primary school teacher, was arrested at her home in Altona Meadows, south-western Melbourne, in March 2008 over allegations that she had raped two eight-year-old boys almost 30 years earlier during a backyard sleepover. She was subsequently convicted and imprisoned, in what has since been described as one of Australia's most extraordinary wrongful conviction cases, before an appeal court later identified a fundamental flaw in the case against her.

Detectives confronted Greensill, still in her pyjamas, at her home to make the arrest over the historic allegations. Years later, a court exposed what is characterised as a glaring evidential flaw in the prosecution, prompting her release after she had spent years behind bars for a crime the appeal process determined she could not have committed.
