Jack O'Connell's new thriller INK, which dramatises the transformation of Britain's The Sun newspaper, premiered at the Venice Film Festival to strong early reviews, cementing its status as one of 2026's standout films. The film arrives at a time when O'Connell is being widely tipped as a frontrunner to become the next James Bond, adding extra media attention to the release. Netflix has already secured US distribution rights, while the film will also receive a theatrical run in several other territories.

Directed by Oscar winner Danny Boyle, who previously worked with O'Connell on 28 Years Later and its sequel, INK is based on James Graham's play and tells the story of editor Larry Lamb, who introduced Page 3 and transformed The Sun's fortunes with a brash, celebrity-focused editorial approach. O'Connell plays Lamb, with Claire Foy and Guy Pearce also starring, while media mogul Rupert Murdoch, the paper's then-owner, appears as a supporting character. Notably, Boyle was previously attached to direct Daniel Craig's final Bond film before departing over creative differences with producers; that project was eventually made by Cary Joji Fukunaga as No Time to Die.
