## Key points

- Batman casting has not begun, but Gunn says it is approaching.
- Gunn wants the best actor, not necessarily a star.
- The new Batman is expected to be close in age to Superman.

## Summary

James Gunn has confirmed that casting for the DC Universe’s next Batman has not started, though he expects the search to begin “before too long”. He says the role will go to the best actor rather than a movie star, signalling that a lesser-known performer could be chosen.

Gunn expects the new Batman to be close in age to David Corenswet’s Superman, whom he describes as a future close friend. He is open to actors who have appeared in minor DC roles, but dismissed rumours of a surprise Batman appearance in an upcoming project as false; the character is unlikely to feature in *Man of Tomorrow*.
