James Gunn Says ‘Big Brother 28’s Rick Devens Was Set For ‘Man Of Tomorrow’ Cameo But “Had To Cancel” Due To CBS Competition

Deadline · 9 hours ago

Rick Devens, known from the reality competition series Survivor, is currently competing for a $750,000 prize on CBS's Big Brother Season 28. During a recent live eviction episode, Devens publicly acknowledged his friendship with filmmaker James Gunn, DC Studios' co-head, prompting Gunn to share the acknowledgment across social media.

Gunn subsequently disclosed that Devens had been scheduled to appear in a minor role within the forthcoming Superman film 'Man of Tomorrow,' but the arrangement fell through because of Devens's participation in the Big Brother competition. Whilst Devens's spouse and children still participated in the production, Devens himself had to step away. Gunn indicated that Devens was aware of the underlying reason but could not publicly explain it.

  • Rick Devens, a Survivor veteran competing on CBS's Big Brother Season 28, had to cancel a background cameo in the Superman sequel 'Man of Tomorrow' due to scheduling or exclusivity conflicts
  • Devens's family members still appeared in the film whilst he withdrew from the role
  • Director James Gunn confirmed they know each other personally; Devens understood the reason for cancellation but could not disclose it
