James Gunn’s Next Superman Movie Has Officially Wrapped up Filming

Polygon · 4 hours ago

James Gunn has announced that principal photography has finished on Superman: Man of Tomorrow, the sequel to his 2025 Superman film. The production milestone is significant for DC and Warner Bros as the film is intended to continue Gunn’s revamped cinematic universe following the mixed commercial fortunes of its recent releases.

Gunn said filming began on 20 April and thanked the cast and crew in a Threads post, sharing photographs from the final day. David Corenswet returns as Superman and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, who will reportedly join forces against a new threat, potentially Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger; Milly Alcock’s Supergirl and several other DC characters will also return. The film is scheduled for a cinema release on 9 July 2027, and will introduce Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart to the big screen.
