## Key points

- JMU’s two-game losing streak has ended its CFP hopes.
- Both defeats followed big first-half leads and went to overtime.
- The article says Napier’s Florida-era problems have resurfaced.

## Summary

James Madison have lost two successive matches under new head coach Billy Napier, ending hopes of a College Football Playoff place and prompting renewed criticism from fans. The article argues that the defeats echo problems seen during Napier’s time at Florida, including conservative decisions and second-half struggles.

JMU began the season 7-0, but were beaten in overtime by Appalachian State and Troy after building substantial first-half leads. The article says the Dukes were outscored in the final 30-plus minutes in four of their eight games against FBS opponents, and points to clock management, play-calling and a stagnant offence as recurring concerns.
