Jamie Foxx is set to star in "Deadlocked," a new action film that has landed at Amazon MGM Studios for worldwide distribution and will stream globally on Prime Video. The project marks another high-profile action vehicle for the Academy Award winner and pairs him with Nikhil Bhat, the Indian director behind the acclaimed action-thriller "Kill," in what is described as an exclusive deal reported by Deadline.

The film follows a grieving former Marine on jury duty who is drawn back into action after the "trial of the century" descends into a hostage crisis, with the defendant's daughter seizing the courthouse to free her father. It is written by Eric Scot Anderson and Matt Takejiro Bosack, and produced by Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Fred Berger of Range, Dave Caplan of C2, and Foxx through his Foxxhole Productions, with Bourscheid, Liz Destro, Paul Currie and Corinne Foxx executive producing. The casting follows Foxx's Netflix hit "Back in Action," which drew 46.8 million views in its opening weekend, and comes as he also prepares the boxing drama "Fight for '84" and hosts "Beat Shazam" on Fox.
