Jason Aldean has released a new single, "Anytime Soon," which the country star says deliberately pays tribute to veteran singer Ronnie Milsap through its keyboard tone. Aldean immediately committed to recording the track after hearing a demo built around a Fender Rhodes electric piano sound reminiscent of Milsap's "Stranger in My House," blended with classic rock influences evoking Tom Petty and Journey. The song fits Aldean's established preference for melancholic narratives about men struggling in the aftermath of failed relationships.

The song was written by Aldean's bassist Tully Kennedy and guitarist Kurt Allison alongside John Edwards and John Morgan, taking shape over two sessions at BMG Music on Nashville's Music Row. It centres on a man drinking to forget a lost love, with the writers settling on the title "Anytime Soon" after rejecting "Running Out of Whiskey" as it contradicted the song's meaning. Broken Bow released the track to country radio on 2 August via PlayMPE, and the writers deliberately kept the lyrics evocative but non-specific about setting to preserve the story's universality.
