Jay Chandrasekhar has discussed Super Troopers 3, saying the sequel aims to revive broad, R-rated theatrical comedy and offer audiences an escape from current politics. Nearly 25 years after the first film, he believes cinemas still need deliberately silly comedies that create a shared experience among strangers.

The film centres on Farva’s planned marriage to Thorny’s sister during an elaborate Indian wedding, while the characters also become involved in another drug investigation. Chandrasekhar described its premise as “Meet the Parents meets Super Troopers”, said Thorny tries to disrupt the wedding, and discussed references to The Dukes of Hazzard, Smokey and the Bandit and Star Wars; he also promoted Brown Supremacist, his first solo stand-up special.
