## Key points

- Everton beat Newcastle 1-0 at St James’ Park.
- Boos followed Newcastle’s second Everton defeat in a week.
- Jaissle faces pressure after a poor start.

## Summary

Newcastle United lost 1-0 at home to Everton, their second defeat by the same side in a week, prompting boos at St James’ Park. The result deepens concerns about Matthias Jaissle’s start as manager, with Newcastle struggling for form and fans beginning to lose patience.

Thierno Barry scored Everton’s winner after goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek let a routine shot slip under him; substitute Jacob Ramsey was sent off. Newcastle have 11 points from nine league games and have lost seven home league matches in 2026, more than any other Premier League side. They have also gone 14 home league games without a clean sheet, while Jaissle says his team must improve their courage and use of the ball.
