Hiller played Larry, a member of the show's blissfully content "hive mind" collective, in the Season 1 episode "Please, Carol," and revealed that viewers have likened his performance to ChatGPT, even though he was aiming for something quite different emotionally.

Speaking on The Daily Show, Hiller explained he had been "trying to convey extreme love" for Rhea Seehorn's character, Carol Sturka, but instead ended up reminding audiences of an AI chatbot, joking that "sometimes you aim for one target, you hit another." He noted the comparison never arose during filming, which took place before ChatGPT became widely known. In Pluribus, Carol is one of the few people immune to an alien virus that has turned humanity into a serene hive mind, and she questions Larry to understand what the collective wants. This nomination follows Hiller's first Emmy win last year for his supporting role as Joel in HBO's "Somebody Somewhere."
