Probst emphasises that maintaining diverse casting is "one of the biggest positive changes ever" for the show and remains essential for creating compelling narratives, rejecting any suggestion that the industry-wide shift away from DEI should affect their approach.

Probst explained that Survivor's commitment to diversity extends beyond race and ethnicity to include people from different walks of life, with casting director Jesse Tannenbaum continuing to prioritise inclusive representation without external pressure. Paramount implemented its original DEI initiative in 2020 but rolled it back last year amid the Trump administration's stance against such programmes, whilst incoming partner Skydance also pledged to abandon DEI policies pending merger approval. The series, which reached its 50th season, returns for Season 51 airing Wednesdays at 8pm ET/PT on CBS and Paramount+.
