Jenni Rose Announces Tomgirls Project But Says Vandoliers Are Here to Stay

Rolling Stone ·

Jenni Rose has announced Tomgirls, a pop-punk project formed with Vandoliers bandmates Trey Alfaro and Patrick Smith, while stressing that Vandoliers will continue. Rose began writing Tomgirls songs as she processed realising she was trans and the uncertainty surrounding her transition and public coming out; the project gives those experiences a separate musical outlet.

Tomgirls will release its 10-track debut album, *Sissy*, in February on Rose’s independent label, Skull and Bow Records. Its first single, “Run”, is out with a video, and Rose wrote, produced and engineered most of the album, drawing on the 1990s pop-punk she grew up with while retaining her Texas vocal style. The songs address pain, insecurity and hope during her transition.

  • Jenni Rose has launched pop-punk trio Tomgirls.
  • Their debut album *Sissy* is due in February.
  • Rose says Vandoliers are continuing.
