## Key points

- He visited Jennifer Hudson’s show one day before his death.
- His family is raising money for funeral and transport costs.

## Summary

Jennifer Hudson said Matthew Wright, a former producer who helped launch her talk show, visited the set for its Halloween programme one day before his death. His death has prompted tributes from colleagues and a family appeal to cover the costs of bringing him home and arranging a funeral.

Wright, 52, died while working remotely in Los Angeles; his cause of death has not been disclosed. His family lives in New York, and said Wright and his husband had both been laid off over the summer. Ellen DeGeneres, who worked with Wright for 16 years, donated $5,000 to the fundraising appeal and remembered him as kind, clever and funny.
