## Key points

- Lawrence rules out returning as Mystique.
- Her make-up sessions could last up to eight hours.
- She played the character in four X-Men films.

## Summary

Jennifer Lawrence says she has no intention of playing Mystique again, citing the exhausting make-up process as the main reason. Her comments underline the physical demands of the role, which she played across four films in the X-Men reboot series.

Lawrence recalled spending up to eight hours in the make-up chair for X-Men: First Class and said the paint was her least favourite part, although she enjoyed the stunts and training. Her final appearance was in Dark Phoenix, where Mystique was killed; Rebecca Romijn is set to reprise the character in Avengers: Doomsday, while Marvel’s planned X-Men reboot has not yet announced its Mystique.
