Country singer Jennifer Nettles, best known as the frontwoman of Sugarland, paid tribute to the victims of the 11 September 2001 attacks by performing Vince Gill's "Go Rest High on That Mountain" in New York on the 25th anniversary of the tragedy. The a cappella-style performance, delivered with minimal accompaniment near the site of the attacks, was widely praised online and seen as a fitting way to honour those who lost their lives when hijackers flew planes into the World Trade Center.

Nettles performed close to where the attacks took place, with the crowd falling silent as she sang. A video of the tribute drew more than 1.2 million views, and Nettles later shared footage of herself preparing to take the stage, describing how emotionally demanding it is to sing in front of grieving audiences. She thanked Vince Gill for writing the song, calling it one of the great "modern hymns", and noted that he had given his blessing for her to perform it.
