A Labour minister, Bassetlaw MP Jo White, has demanded an apology from Reform UK after accusing the party of sharing a misleadingly edited audio clip that distorted her comments on migrant boat crossings. Reform UK's Robert Jenrick shared a clip suggesting the newly appointed immigration minister had said she "didn't care" whether the boats were stopped, a claim White says twists her actual words and misleads the public.

White responded by posting an extended version of the recording, in which she said: "I don't care who will stop the boats… my number one priority is to stop those boats." Jenrick's original post, which also criticised Andy Burnham over Channel crossings and called for a general election, has since been deleted. The row broke out on the same day migrants attempted the first Channel crossing since Burnham became Prime Minister, with large numbers seen boarding a boat near Boulogne-sur-Mer as French police intervened to stop some individuals, including a family with a baby, from embarking.
