The Television Academy inducted seven figures into its 2026 Hall of Fame, recognising careers that have shaped comedy, drama, journalism, documentary and streaming. Jerry Seinfeld praised Netflix co-chief executive Ted Sarandos as an unusually well-liked Hollywood executive, while the event also celebrated Ted Danson, Jean Smart, Trey Parker, Matt Stone, Sheila Nevins and the late journalist Ed Bradley.

Parker and Stone marked 29 years since South Park premiered, with Stone crediting deadlines for the programme’s longevity and Parker joking about AI before defending satire that targets everyone. Smart reflected on a career spanning Designing Women, Frasier, Fargo, Watchmen and Hacks, while Lesley Stahl paid tribute to Bradley’s human-centred reporting during his 25 years on 60 Minutes and more than 500 stories.

The Television Academy is the organisation behind the Emmy Awards, which recognise work in American television. Its Hall of Fame honours people whose careers have had a lasting influence on the industry, including performers, creators, executives and journalists.
