Jess Williamson announces new album A Mile South of Heaven
Texan singer-songwriter Jess Williamson has announced a new album, A Mile South of Heaven, due for release on 9 October via New West Records. It follows her 2024 LP Time Ain't Accidental and was produced by Shooter Jennings at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, marking her latest step in an ongoing solo career.
The announcement comes alongside a "mini road movie" video for lead single "Goodbye to All That", whose title nods to Joan Didion's essay of the same name about leaving New York. Williamson said the song began as a farewell to Los Angeles after eight years there, but writing it changed her mind about leaving. The 12-track album includes songs such as "Country Mile", "Dark Day in Dallas" and "The Gem and Mineral Show", and Williamson described its title as reflecting the idea of appreciating one's current progress rather than chasing an unreachable finish line.
