## Key points

- Jessica Biel is executive producing a *7th Heaven* reboot.
- The show aims to address current issues facing families and teenagers.
- Biel says she wants a safe, supportive creative environment on set.

## Summary

Jessica Biel says the planned *7th Heaven* reboot will address contemporary challenges facing teenagers and families, while keeping the original series’ family-viewing appeal. As an executive producer, she wants the show to tackle subjects more directly than the original could, including technology, school pressures, bullying, drugs and alcohol.

Biel plans to return behind the scenes rather than reprise Mary Camden, saying she wants to create a supportive set where performers can be emotionally open. The original ran for 11 seasons from 1996 to 2007 and followed Reverend Eric Camden, his wife and their five children. Most of its cast have distanced themselves from Stephen Collins, who admitted in 2014 to sexually assaulting three underage girls; he was never charged.
