The New York Jets surrendered a 10-point fourth-quarter lead before losing 20-17 to the Green Bay Packers in overtime. The defeat denied New York its first 2-0 start since 2015, after costly penalties, an ineffective late offence and a failed fourth-down conversion allowed Green Bay to complete its comeback.

The Jets led 17-7 with 11:04 remaining, but a 38-yard pass-interference penalty helped set up a Packers touchdown, while a 63-yard punt return led to the tying field goal. Green Bay won with Trey Smack’s 26-yard kick in overtime after New York’s opening possession collapsed, despite outgaining the Packers 285-199, winning the turnover battle and holding them to one successful third-down conversion; both teams combined for 27 accepted penalties totalling 289 yards.
