Jim James’s first album in eight years, Wowed Out, is presented as a calm response to the anxiety and disconnection associated with constant social media and news consumption. The review argues that, rather than offering a complete answer to modern digital overload, the record encourages listeners to step away from screens and reconnect with nature, love, music and everyday human kindness.

The album was assembled from archive material originally intended for two abandoned film projects, after James was removed for taking the work in an unexpected direction. Musically, it favours gentle psychedelic rock and atmospheric pop-rock over confrontation; tracks including ‘Come Again’ and ‘Home (Green)’ are highlighted for their tranquil, earnest tone. It is released on 28 August 2026 through ATO Records, produced by James himself.
