Notably, the report comes before the series has been formally greenlit, making Tatro's involvement a developing prospect rather than a confirmed deal. The casting is significant as it signals the direction of DC Studios' expanding television slate under Gunn and Peter Safran.

DC Crime is conceived as a true-crime docuseries-style show hosted by Jimmy Olsen, the character played by Skyler Gisondo in the Superman film, with its first season reportedly centred on Grodd, a hyper-intelligent telepathic ape and long-standing foe of the Flash. The project comes from Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault, creators of Netflix's satire American Vandal, who will write, executive produce and showrun. Gunn and Safran serve as executive producers alongside Galen Vaisman, with Warner Bros. Television producing. HBO Max and DC Studios declined to comment. Tatro, previously seen in Scream 7 and American Vandal, would be reuniting with the Yacenda and Perrault.
