Jodie Kidd, a 47-year-old supermodel and motorsport enthusiast, has suggested she may finally accept a presenting role on the revived BBC series Top Gear, more than a decade after declining the opportunity in 2015. The BBC confirmed last month that the flagship motoring programme would return following a nearly four-year hiatus, and Kidd's recent comments signal she is now open to joining the show. Top Gear's return is significant as the programme has struggled with disruption over recent years, and audiences have missed having a quality car programme on terrestrial television.

Kidd was approached about joining Top Gear in 2015 following the departure of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, but declined at the time, stating the role would be "completely all-consuming" and "take over your soul" whilst her son was young. The show has been off air since December 2022 when presenter Freddie Flintoff suffered serious facial and rib injuries in a crash at the Dunsfold Aerodrome test track in Surrey. Kidd's motoring credentials are strong; she guest-appeared on the show in 2003, impressed Jeremy Clarkson with her driving, obtained an international racing licence, competed in motorsport for Maserati, and has presented motoring programmes on Channel 5.
