## Key points

- John 5 says he aims to honour Mick Mars and Mötley Crüe’s history.
- He plays the recorded guitar parts as written.
- The band has eight Las Vegas shows planned for 2027.

## Summary

John 5 says he sees his role in Mötley Crüe as representing the band’s history and Mick Mars, rather than drawing attention to himself. The comments underline how he approaches replacing the founding guitarist, whose work helped define the band over four decades.

He says he plays the recorded guitar parts as written, including solos, while adding freer playing where the band gives him room. In 2023, he said he had spent months learning the back catalogue note for note. Mötley Crüe are scheduled to play eight Las Vegas residency shows from 12 March to 3 April 2027.
