Apple TV and Mattel Studios unveiled the first trailer for their upcoming Matchbox film at San Diego Comic-Con, positioning it as a very different kind of toy adaptation from the tone set by Barbie. Directed by Sam Hargrave, the action blockbuster stars John Cena and marks Mattel's attempt to turn another of its major toy lines into a large-scale cinematic franchise, following the huge success of its Barbie adaptation.

Cena plays Sean, a former small-town resident turned undercover CIA agent whose homecoming reunites him with childhood friends before drawing them into a high-stakes international mission to avert a global catastrophe. He is joined by a notable ensemble cast including Jessica Biel, Sam Richardson, Teyonah Parris, Arturo Castro, Danai Gurira, Corey Stoll, Bill Camp and Golshifteh Farahani.
