John Leguizamo has credited the "Ice Age" franchise, in which he has voiced Sid the sloth since 2002, with funding his children's college education and buying him multiple homes. The actor made the comments to "Entertainment Tonight" while promoting his new film "The Odyssey," reflecting on how the franchise's commercial success gave him the financial freedom to pursue theatre work.

Since debuting in March 2002 with a $383 million box office haul, "Ice Age" has grown into the longest-running animated film franchise, spawning further hits including "The Meltdown" (2006), "Dawn of the Dinosaurs" (2009) and "Continental Drift" (2012), before dipping with "Collision Course" (2016). The series has grossed $3.2 billion in total, and a sixth instalment, "Boiling Point," is due for release on 5 February 2027.
