Jon Favreau’s ‘Oswald the Lucky Rabbit’ Miniseries Sets February Release Date on Disney+

Variety · 3 hours ago

Disney has announced that Jon Favreau’s “Oswald the Lucky Rabbit” will arrive on Disney+ in February 2027 as a three-part miniseries combining live action with hand-drawn 2D animation. The project revives one of Disney’s earliest characters, whose history is closely tied to the creation of Mickey Mouse, making it a notable return for a figure largely absent from modern popular culture.

Favreau will write, direct and executive produce the series, which stars Amy Sedaris, Kathryn Hahn, Steve Martin, Al Madrigal, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Mykal-Michelle Harris and Ryder Allen. Oswald was created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks for Universal in 1927; Disney lost control of the character in 1928, reacquired the rights in 2006, and Oswald entered the public domain in 2023.
