Jon Hamm stars as 1970s radio journalist Fred Heckman in the trailer for "American Hostage", a psychological thriller premiering on MGM+ on 20 September. Hamm reprises the role from the original narrative podcast, portraying the real-life Indianapolis WIBC broadcaster who was drawn into a tense, days-long crisis after a hostage-taker demanded to be interviewed live on air.

Giovanni Ribisi plays the hostage-taker, Tony Kiritsis, who calls into Heckman's programme threatening a man at gunpoint and is ultimately given airtime, triggering 63 hours of confrontation. Created by Shawn Ryan and Eileen Myers, the eight-part series also features Kristoffer Polaha, William Jackson Harper, Mireille Enos, Jonathan Tucker and Kat Cunning, with a finale set for 1 November.
