## Key points

- Haley Stevens endorsed Mike Rogers just before Election Day.
- Jon Stewart questioned her reversal and mocked her explanation.
- Stewart also criticised Trump’s Reflecting Pool-focused speech.

## Summary

Jon Stewart criticised Michigan congresswoman Haley Stevens on Monday’s “The Daily Show” after she endorsed Republican Mike Rogers shortly before Election Day, despite previously condemning his positions. Stewart questioned what had prompted the switch and argued that Stevens’ explanation about not being welcomed to Abdul El-Sayed’s campaign did not explain her support for Rogers.

Stewart also mocked Stevens’ endorsement video and her CNN interview with Anderson Cooper. Earlier in the programme, he criticised Donald Trump’s closing midterm speech for focusing on the Reflecting Pool rather than political issues, including Trump’s description of its height and colour. The article gives no further details about the candidates’ prospects or the effect of Stevens’ endorsement.
