## Key points

- Korpisalo started a conditioning stint with Hartford.
- He has been sidelined by a foot infection since the season opener.
- The Rangers have yet to set a return date.

## Summary

Joonas Korpisalo began a conditioning stint with AHL Hartford on Wednesday, playing against Hershey as he moves closer to returning to the Rangers. His foot infection has kept him out since the season opener, and his progress offers a boost to a team facing a shortage of goaltenders.

The Rangers have not said how many games Korpisalo may need before he is ready for NHL action. He resumed skating in late October and gradually returned to full practice; meanwhile, rookie Dylan Garand has played 11 consecutive games with Igor Shesterkin out for the season and Korpisalo on long-term injured reserve. Korpisalo, acquired from Boston in the summer, had a 14-9-6 record and .894 save percentage last season.
